good post. Here is a great example of narcissism (or too much time & too few goals) in blogging.... Check it out.

http://imgonnabeatyou.blogspot.com/

I found this blog recently, & I said 'really?'

For some social media is connecting, but unfortunately, blogs today are what personal journals were yesterday. In general, I may be interested in my thoughts, which I am, so I write them down to help process them. By writing a blog and hoping people will read/comment on it, I am thinking my thoughts/feelings/snacks I eat on a day to day basis are so important that everyone else needs to know about them.

Of course there are some great blogs that inspiring, purely informational, or funny/entertaining. But, for the most part, I think blogs are narcissistic. This is why I stopped writing mine some time ago.

I'd say every blogger DOES post something to promote himself in his blog. What's the point if you don't love yourself and decide to start a blog ? :)

Nice examples. Hats off to the lines on the blog reader, you READ my mind :D

@eMJay: 'Man is indeed a social animal' and 'he' (each one of us) defines our own 'acceptable' society. So, to put the ball back, would you read 'all' blogs of 'everyone' the same way as you read your pals'? you always choose your 'favs'. So, inspite of society as a whole, you pick your brethren (or like-feathered/compatible [in a very generic/abstract sense] beings).
